Curriculum

The curriculum used at Valley Schools has been chosen after prayerful consideration and evaluation. VS curriculum is biblically based and supports the academic standards set forth by the state of California. A variety of Christian focused materials, approved teacher created materials, and excellent, approved secular materials/textbooks may be used.

Report Cards

At the conclusion of each quarter, an evaluation of the student’s progress for an entire nine-week period will be recorded on the student’s report card. Parent/teacher conferences will be scheduled at the end of the first quarter, and on an as needed basis thereafter. Report card marks are defined below:

Primary Elementary:

4 = Outstanding

3 = Very Good

2 = Satisfactory

1 = Needs Improvement

Intermediate Elementary and Middle School:

A = Excellent (90% - 100%)

B = Above Average (80%-89%)

C = Average (70% - 79%)

D = Below Average (60% - 69%)

F = Failing (59% and below)

Honor Roll

Honor Roll Awards will be determined by grade point average, and will be calculated at the end of each semester. Students earning a grade point average of 3.5-3.99 in core curricular areas will be awarded an Honor Roll certificate. Students earning a grade point average of 4.0 will be awarded a Principal’s List certificate. Students earning the aforementioned awards may have their names and/or photos published in the local newspaper or other community media as well as school publications. Parents have given VS permission to publish such information when signing the permission slip at the beginning of the school year or as part of the admissions process.

Awards

Awards will be given at the monthly chapel services. Chapel is held the second Thursday of each month. Awards will recognize academic and spiritual growth, as well as citizenship. Parents will be notified by mail of their student’s upcoming award.

Standardized Testing

In April of each year, VS administers standardized tests. These tests are designed to assess the needs and progress of each student. Student scores will be placed in permanent student files. The cost of testing and scoring services are included in the books and materials fee assessed at the time of enrollment.
